NEC Nature Conservation Walk – 21st October 2023

The NUST Environment Club conducted a conservation walk at Shah Allah Ditta Caves in the Margalla Hills of Islamabad on October 21, 2023, as part of the HEC Green Youth Movement (GYM) initiative. The main purpose of this conservation walk was to raise awareness and encourage a sense of environmental responsibility among the participants. Furthermore, such events serve to educate, promote sustainable practices, and advocate for responsible environmental policies, contributing to a more sustainable and environmentally conscious future. In addition to recreational activities like horse riding and jamming, the participants were educated about nature conservation through the following actions:

• Litter Cleanup: Participants were equipped with gloves and garbage bags to collect and properly dispose of litter and debris along the hiking trails and popular areas.
• Trail Maintenance: Participants inspected and cleared any fallen branches or debris that might obstruct the paths.
• Leave No Trace: Participants received information about the Leave No Trace principles, focusing on responsible outdoor behavior, minimal impact camping, and responsible waste disposal.
